Bangladesh is a low-lying country with a total area of 55,598 square
miles or 1, 43,999, square kilometers. It stretches latitudinal between 20º34'
and 26º38' north and longitudinally between 88º01' and 92º41' east. It is
mostly surrounded by Indian Territory (West Bengal, Tripura, Assam and
Meghalaya), except for a small strip in the southeast by Myanmar. Bay of Bengal
lies on the south. The population of Bangladesh is about 133.4 millions.
Majority of the population are Muslims; Hindus, Buddhists and Christians make
up 13 percent of the entire population. Over 98 percent of the people speak
Bengali; English however, is widely used. The entire country is broadly divided
into six administrative divisions, namely, Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna,
Barisal and Sylhet. This country governed by the Parliamentary democracy and it
has a unitary parliament, named Bangladesh Jatia Sangsad. There are 40
Ministries and 12 Divisions. Only few ministries are large, the Ministry of
Health & Family Welfare is one of them. At the national level, the ministry
of Health & Family Welfare (MOH&FW) is responsible for policy, planning
and decision making at macro level. Under MOH&FW, there are four
Directorates e.g. Director General of Health Services, Director General of Family
Planning, Directorate of Nursing Services and Directorate of Drug
Administration.

Dhaka
South City Corporation (DSCC) is one of the two municipal corporations in Dhaka
created when the former Dhaka City Corporation was divided into two. The
Corporation was created by the Local Government (City Corporation) Amendment
Bill 2011 on 29 November 2011, passed in the Parliament of Bangladesh,
following the President's approval,.
The Local
Govt. (City Corporation) Amendment Act (2011), Dhaka City Corporation has
divided and re-created as Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North
City Corporation (DNCC) on 04.12.2011 as well as the Government has appointed
Mr. Md. Khalilur Rahman (additional Secretary) as the Administrator of DSCC.
According
to the existing law, the executive power of the Corporation vests in and
exercised by the Mayor/Administrator. The Corporation constitutes Several
Standing Committees and other Committees to monitor and guide the diversified
activities of the organization. The Mayor/administrator is assisted by the
Chief Executive Officer, who in turn, is assisted by the Secretary, the Heads
of Departments and Zonal Executive Officers.

South City Corporation consists of 57 wards covering the thanas of Azimpur,
Maghbazar, Malibagh, Motijheel, Jatrabari, Dhaka Kotwali, Sutrapur, Bangsal,

Job circular at Ministry of Social Welfare
Ministry
of Social Welfare is one of the important Ministries dealing with Human
Resource Development, Poverty Eradication, Welfare, Development and Empowerment
of the bypassed and disadvantaged segments of the people of Bangladesh. To
introduce Bangladesh as a Welfare state this Ministry is implementing programs
like Old Age Allowances, Widows Allowances and Allowances for Persons with
Disabilities, Grants and aids to Acid burnt victims. The Ministry has also
multidimensional and intensive programs for the welfare of the by-passed,
disadvantaged segment, unemployed, landless, orphans, distressed, vagrants,
homeless, socially, intellectually and physically challenged, neuron-developmental

accordance with the Article 15(Gha) of the constitution of Bangladesh, Ministry
of Social Welfare as well as attached Department and Agencies are implementing
these Programs. All the Programs are related towards achieving the targets of
Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Management of Social Transformation
(MoST), Vision 2021 and Sixth Five Year Plan.
To be more
dynamic, transparent and accountable the Ministry has undertaken development
approach instead of charity approach. Family Centric Programs and pro-people
Work Plans have made the Ministry popular to the people of Bangladesh.
